The purpose of FSSP is to assist families providing at-home care to family members (young and old) with developmental delays or disabilities. Our services are designed to ease the financial and emotional strains of having a family member with special needs. FSSP offers limited financial assistance and information/referral.
FSSP is guided by the Family Support Services Council, the local group that is responsible for guiding Imagine!’s implementation of the Family Support Services Program. The Council is made up of family members, professionals and interested community members.
Family Support grants can help pay for the extraordinary costs of caring for a child or dependent with developmental delays/disabilities. There are two Family Support grants available to families. Funding is always subject to availability of funds.
Family Support Grants |
 |
1. Family Support Yearly Grant
- Families are offered grants based on available funds in a given fiscal year.
- Applications are automatically sent to families who will be offered grants during the fiscal year.
- Families must turn in a “Family Most in Need Survey” yearly in order to receive a grant application.
- Grants are distributed at designated times throughout the fiscal year.
2. Special Reserve Grant
- Families can apply for emergency situations.
- Applications can be requested and submitted through a service coordinator/case manager or FSSP staff.

Prioritization is based on guidelines established by the FSSP Council. Priority may be given to families with more than one child receiving services through Imagine!, and families needing respite care or significant medical interventions

Grants can help pay for the costs of caring for a child with a developmental delay/disability.
Examples of funded items include respite care, professional services, medical and dental expenses, behavioral services, transportation costs, assistive technology, home modifications, parent and sibling support, recreation and leisure, homemaker services, child care services, alternative therapies, therapeutic materials, or developmental classes.
Items that are not covered by Family Support grants include anything that is not above and beyond the costs incurred for a child without a developmental disability (for example, items such as rent, utilities, food or childcare).
