Early Intervention Colorado (EIColorado)

What is The Early Intervention Colorado Program:
The Early Intervention Colorado Program (EIColorado) is a Federal program offered to the community through Imagine! that guarantees that children birth to three, and their families, have access to services under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Part C is the part of the law that addresses those children ages birth to three. Our job is to make sure that every eligible child receives the services guaranteed under the law. If a family has any reservations about their child's development, this program offers them a free multidisciplinary evaluation and if the evaluation confirms the child qualifies, other services are available as well.

What is IDEA
IDEA is an act of Congress that first became law in 1975. Prior to its implementation approximately 1 million children with disabilities were shut out of schools and hundreds of thousands more were denied appropriate services. Since then, the legislation has changed the lives of these children. Today many are learning and achieving at levels previously thought impossible, and as a result, they are graduating from high school, going to college, and entering the workforce as productive citizens in unprecedented numbers.

Natural Environments
Imagine! believes that young children learn, grow, and develop best in the places familiar and natural to them. We provide:

  • Information about community activities for young children and families.
  • Access to individual and group activities in community settings led by qualified professionals.
  • Consultation by qualified professionals in home and community settings.
  • Information about support and resources that enable children to join with their friends and family in everyday activities.

EIColorado Services

We collaborate with school districts, hospitals, and other providers to ensure that families receive a free multidisciplinary evaluation to determine whether their child qualifies for special services.

We provide each family with service coordination in order to connect children and families to supports and resources in the community in order to meet their individual needs.

We assist families in developing an individualized plan of action to address specific needs such as early intervention, transportation, daily learning, and supports to enable the child to have their needs met in community or daily activities.

We provide information and support to families so they can focus on what's important for their young child and family.

We connect with families in their homes, hospital, or at other places in the community.

We provide assistance with connecting with other families for parent-to-parent support.

We provide funding for supports and services in natural settings that are not covered by other financial resources (i.e. Medicaid, private insurance).
